Global Affairs is hosting an open house for the new Global Education Center located in Louise Pound Hall. The event, which is open to faculty, staff and students, is 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 8. Remarks begin at 5:15 p.m.

3 Huskers earn invite to serve in Peace Corps
Claire Gillespie and Katie Schmitz both received the Lieding Global Impact Scholarship in summer 2022 to study food security, health and nutrition in Zambia. Both completed Nebraska’s Peace Corps Prep program this fall and have been invited to serve in the Peace Corps after graduation.
Wang’s lab is at forefront of food safety science
The analytical methods her lab employs have broad, practical utility — from Chilean farmers who learned the source of E. coli bacterial contamination of their raspberry production thanks to Wang’s analysis, to soy sauce company Kikkoman, which improved its food storage procedures as a result of her work.

Sophomore gymnast Csenge Bácskay will head back to the global stage in 2024 at the Paris Olympics to represent Hungary. She qualified for vault at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships on Oct. 7.
